#CampingHack:   In the event of cold weather, bubble wrap can be surprisingly useful! You can use it as a temp fix to insulate your motorhome by applying it to the windows. Simply fill a spray bottle with water, spray the window and then apply the bubble wrap. The other bonus is that its great fun to sit and pop all the air bubbles for kids.

We received a message on Boards.ie recently from Gandorf and a related reply from Alters that we diccuss: Gandorf is a potential future camper van owner and is really interested in pros/cons of different camper vans / motorhomes.

Alters suggests that it might not be practical to do reviews of specific models but you could talk about the pros and cons of the various sizes and layouts e.g. VW / bongo sized, bed over cab, rear fixed bed etc

Be patient, take your time, and do not compromise on the exact layout you need. Panic buy with the wrong layout and you’ll continually regret it.

Our advice

  • Look at motorhome specific clubs, club members look after their mh. Not after quick sale
  • Check with local campsite owners
  • Always get it checked out mechanically and get a habitation and gas check and a damp scheme

    • Hang a shoe organiser in the bathroom for extra safe secure storage of bathroom items
    • Stick glow-in-the dark tape on the stairs/steps
    • Square plates and bowls for better storage
    • We use a square wine rack in the bottom of the wardrobe for sectioned storage
    • As mentioned.. Tie something to the stearing wheel to remind you that you are plugged in.
    • Leave your spanner on the dash to remind you that you stableizers are down
